Im using the SEOmoz LDA tool atm and its definitely helps me focus on writing better, longer, richer content. Whether LDA is what google are using or not, the outcome for me is still better content that Ive thought through a lot more If you write somethign that has 80-90% confidence in their tool, its also a great piece to the naked eye Win win really

First of all I didn't say that you were trashing LSI/LDA did I? I said "people." FYI if ignoracne is your biggest problem I would focus on that and spend less time harassing your readers.

Uhm Kyle? Did you actually READ the post sir? For starters I am not trashing LDA or the Moz. I am talking about the total ignorance of SEOs when it comes to information retrieval. LSI? Man, that' total crap because anyone even slightly intimate with IR knows that isn't being used. LDA? Once more, there are a variety of semantic analysis methods out there and Google likely uses more than one. Moz? They are either ignorant or just trying to cash in using the term. Why wouldn't they just call it a 'semantic analysis tool'? Methinks because that isn't as sexy. Fact is, they nor I know what flavour of semantic analysis Google is using. That's the reality of the situation. If SEOs don't even understand semantic analysis and modern search, they most certainly have no idea how to use it in their programs. That's a fact... ignoracne is the main problem I have with it all.

I don't know why so many people have been trashing LDA or LSI on SEOMoz. No it's not a silver bullet or even the best direct correlation to rankings. but I'm sure that it will help your pages.

Dave, Latent Dirichlet Allocation *IS* based on the bag-of-words concept. Google looks at word order and proximity. LDA does not.
