Hmmm, wonder how the Adwords people will feel about this -- taking up their space in the sponsored space above the free local listings site. And can you imagine how this will affect the SEO optimizers that market themselves to get ads above the fold? With the local listings boost ads, the adwords ads, and the local listings "regular" ads, this places the organics way down there -- what a bummer for those folks. I attended several SEO classes and the amount of work it took me to put my site above the fold organically was a real pitb i must say, but happy to see Google is finally offering a local ads campaign tool, however its not in Tucson, AZ. yet - you can bet I'll be on of the first to hop on board though .. cheers :)

Pete in regards to Marissa Mayer the new duties also include Mobile search end is a clear signal Google sees it's future and biggest problems are increasingly tied to getting Local and Mobile search technology to the point where the Web search is now. Kinda like bringing in a ringer.

I believe that this has been rolling for quite a bit of while in the 3 cities but at a fixed price per month and limited to one client. It was about time I believe Google gets people addicted to products and then charge them for using the service. I guess nothing comes free!!
