Yup, it’s true. We were sitting here (in the SEO Dojo chat) when one of our more active users, Eren McKay, reported that it is now GONE. In talking with Eren she said, "it was based off of YSE that Aaron Wall has his seo for firefox data". She went on to note, "just scroll down the results on page one and look at yahoo page links and you know how many outbound links are pointing to a page – I didnt even have to go to the actual tool because seo for firefox did it for me".
Alas, no more…. (I am sure Aaron is all over it of course)
Back in July they announced that it would be closing, so obviously this is no surprise. And of course we ask; what does it really mean? For the most part folks were using it for looking at link profiles, but that’s not huge because we still have Majestic and OSE to fill the void. What is likely more interesting are all the folks that used the API for their tools… hopefully with the early warning, they’ve all got that sorted by now.
Good-bye Site Explorer, we had many great years of use from ya… rest in peace.

I read this from my semi-automated Twitter. RIP Yahoo 😛
This definitely leaves a hole in the data stream for a lot of folks. Let’s hope the developers of our favorite tools have a solution ready to plug in.
This sucks.. I loved Yahoo Site Explorer, hopefully they bring it back to the public… 😐
It was good while lasted. I salute you YSE”¦
What a bummer this is. I used it every day. Have to read up on other alternatives.
Farewell and thanks for all the fish!
You are survived by many friends 🙂
